About this Event:

Looking for outdoor winter fun? This course is for you! Learn the basics of cross country skiing
and explore the beauty of the Black Hills in winter to benefit your mental and physical well-
being. This course presents the fundamentals of cross-country skiing including equipment, gear,
ski locations, and basic techniques.
Part II of the course is an on-site ski experience to allow you to practice cross-country skiing
techniques guided by instructors. Part II is scheduled for January 4 and/or February 1.

About the Program

Overview:

Learn how to kayak/canoe, cook in the outdoors, cross-country ski, snowshoe, and survive in the wilderness.
These courses introduce folks to practical skills for enjoying South Dakota’s landscape.  Classes include kayak and canoe classes on flat and moving bodies of water, skills for how to start a fire and cook on an open fire, and skills for wilderness survival.  During the winter months, these courses also include snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
