About this Event:

We are taking our bird watching class to the next level with a kayaking safari on the Big Sioux! This class will meet at The Outdoor Campus for a brief introduction and overview of birding and wildlife observation as well as a refresher on kayak safety. Participants will kayak from The Outdoor Campus to Rotary Park while learning about South Dakota Birds and their habitats. Kayaks, paddles, life jackets and binoculars will be provided as well as transportation from Rotary Park back to The Outdoor Campus. Previous kayaking experience is recommended.

About the Program

Overview:

Learn how to kayak/canoe, cook in the outdoors, cross-country ski, snowshoe, and survive in the wilderness.
These courses introduce folks to practical skills for enjoying South Dakota’s landscape.  Classes include kayak and canoe classes on flat and moving bodies of water, skills for how to start a fire and cook on an open fire, and skills for wilderness survival.  During the winter months, these courses also include snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
