About this Event:

The Black Hills is an amazing place to Fly-Fish. Get hooked on fly fishing with the naturalists at Custer State Park as we guide you through gear, techniques, and fish species to target. Then take your chance while fishing on one of our water bodies within the park. Gear will be provided, sunglasses that are polarized are recommended along with clothing that you are fine with getting wet, no fishing license is required. Join us to learn the basics of casting and gear. Ages of 8 and up. This program is free to the public but a park entrance license is required.

About the Program

Overview:

Learn basics of fishing, from gear, bait, species identification and processes.
These classes will begin with an introduction to the type of fishing you will be learning: fly fishing, ice fishing, shore fishing etc..  You will be introduced to your equipment and how to prepare for a fishing trip.  Once a basic foundation is set you will be able to practice your fishing techniques, identifying your catch, cleaning your catch and cooking your fish.  Classes will include understanding fishing regulations and ethics of fishing.
