About this Event:

Learn the difference between canoes and kayaks and the paddles that go with them. We will discuss and practice water safety, paddling strokes, how to get in and out and team building. Wear shoes that can get wet. Participants must be age 5 to ride in a canoe, age 8 to go into a kayak solo.
Participants under 18 must have an adult with them.

About the Program

Overview:

Learn how to kayak/canoe, cook in the outdoors, cross-country ski, snowshoe, and survive in the wilderness.
These courses introduce folks to practical skills for enjoying South Dakota’s landscape.  Classes include kayak and canoe classes on flat and moving bodies of water, skills for how to start a fire and cook on an open fire, and skills for wilderness survival.  During the winter months, these courses also include snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
